On April 14, 2015 Cadet Jack Chappell of Springfield, MO attended the 81st Sophomore Pilgrimage in Jefferson City, MO, with other sophomore students from around the state of Missouri.
The Sophomore Pilgrimage is sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Missouri, Inc. Every year, since 1935, the Women’s Clubs have paid for lunch and transportation to enable students to see our state government in action.
The purpose of the pilgrimage is to give recognition to students in the sophomore class of high school who exemplify high standards of Honor, Courage, Citizenship, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Students selected to attend meet the Missouri State elected officials, tour the capitol, Governor’s Mansion, and Supreme Court and eat lunch with the GFWC of Missouri, Inc. Executive Committee. While attending the pilgrimage, Chappell met with State Senator Jay Wasson. Chappell received a Certificate of Merit in Citizenship for attending the event.
Chappell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Chappell of Springfield, MO.
