When Bill Sellers resigned as President of Wentworth, the choice for Interim President was obvious. Robert Heath, the Chaiman of the Board of Trustees, observed, “We are indeed fortunate to have someone like Col. Lierman, who has served as the chief operations officer for 9 different presidents during his long tenure at Wentworth. He has great knowledge of the organization and the experience to continue our educational mission. We have every confidence in his ability to bridge the organization through this leadership change.”
Col. Lierman, a former cadet at Wentworth Military Academy and College, joined the staff of the Academy in 1980 after completing his college career at Central Missouri University in 1975. He received his Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.
His 33-years of experience at Wentworth Military Academy and College will allow for a smooth transition while the Board searches for a new President.
Originally hired as the Assistant Commandant of Cadets, Lierman also served as an Admissions Representative during the summer months.
Lierman went on to serve as a full-time Admissions Representative before being appointed as Dean of Admissions.
He advanced to serve as Vice President of Operations, Executive Vice President, and Chief of Staff before being appointed as the 14th Superintendent of Wentworth Military Academy and College.
A native of Lexington, Col. Lierman is affiliated with several civic and educational organizations. He is a member of the National Association of Admissions Counselors, and the Midwest Boarding Schools Association.
Col. Lierman served as a Board Member and as the President of the Lexington R-V School District’s Board of Education from 2000 – 2006. He is a member of the Missouri School Board Association, and the Missouri State Teachers Association.
He also served as a Board Member of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Lexington Economic Development Committee. Lierman served on the board of the Lexington All-Sports Boosters.
Lierman is a member of Rotary International. He has served as a board member for the Lexington Rotary Club.
“I am honored to accept this interim position and will do everything in my power to see that the legacy of the organization continues,” said Col. Lierman. “I have a great team of people working with me and I am looking forward to serving Wentworth as its interim President.”
He and his wife, Brenda, are residents of Lexington, MO and are very involved with their family. Their daughter, Amy, lives in Lexington. Their son, Andrew, and his wife, Amber, live in Kearney with their two children, Endsley and Landry.
