Tuition Information

First Date of Enrollment is August 10, 2009
Effective June 1, 2009, the 2009-2010 school year price of attendance for full-boarding High School
Scholar cadets will be at the following rates:

Types of Credits

  • Full Pay saves $1,500

This is a comprehensive price that includes both recurring costs and non-recurring costs.

Recurring costs (paid every year of attendance):

  • Tuition
  • Room and board
  • Laundry
  • Haircuts
  • Student accident insurance
  • Pocket money
  • Quartermaster/Incidental fee deposit
  • Computer usage fee
  • Health center and laboratory fees
  • International student insurance and administration fee: +$2,150 (for students whose primary residence is outside of the United States)
  • Textbooks
  • Parents Association
Non-recurring costs (paid for the first year only):
  • $100 application fee
  • $500 Academic assessment fee
  • $2,150 uniform charge

Uniforms

Uniforms are a non-recurring cost, and although we do everything we can to minimize the cost of uniforms, it is our experience that returning cadets typically need from 5-8 uniform items at enrollment. It is suggested that for returning cadets, the financially responsible party consider making a contribution to their QM account to cover any unexpected uniform requirements.

Basic Necessity Requirements and Activity Fees

In addition to the fees listed above, each cadet is required to bring certain basic clothing, bedding, and equipment supplies, such as underwear, socks, athletic shoes, and room cleaning supplies. These necessities are itemized in our Handbook for Parents. A range of activities and intramurals are provided in the fee structure above; however, should a cadet wish to participate in select activities and sports such as paintball, horseback riding or dance, additional cost may be incurred at the family's discretion. Also, if a family wishes a cadet to have additional spending money, such funds are also separate.

Dual Enrollment

The cost of tuition will include any and all college credit hours that a high school student may take, however there will be an additional cost incurred for any books, material, or lab fees that are required as part of any coursework.

Validation Fee

Upon acceptance to the academy, a Validation Fee of $1,500 is required and payable immediately. This fee is part of the total tuition cost but is non-refundable. Upon payment, your account will reflect this amount as having already been paid. Furthermore, if you are awarded a scholarship for financial aid, the Validation Fee will be required to be paid not later than June 30, 2009. Scholarship offers that do not have a paid Validation Fee as of this date are considered to have expired and will be rescinded.

Payment and Contract

For the 2009-2010 school year, limited spaces in the High School are being competed for on a first-come, first-serve basis. Payment of tuition and fees can occur anytime between acceptance and enrollment but not later than the date of enrollment. It is the policy of the Office of Admissions that a cadet without a properly executed contract and payment arrangement will not be allowed to enroll.

Payment Incentives

For the 2009-2010 school year, the following incentives are available:

  • For all Cadets, full payment at the time of contract receives a $1,500 immediate credit.

Loans

Loans are considered as "Payment in Full" when either the loan is disbursed to the school, or an official acceptance/authorization letter from the lending institution is provided to the Controller at the time of enrollment. Loans in any status other than "Disbursed" or "Accepted" will not be considered as payment in full. An enrolling cadet must have financial consideration at the time of enrollment, and loans considered to be "Pending" will not be accepted as consideration unless approved by the Controller.

Scholarships / Financial Aid

Financial Aid is available and awarded as a scholarship based on demonstrated financial need and/or merit. Financial Aid is limited and awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Scholarships are adjudicated each year and while every effort is made to re-award scholarships to current recipients for follow on years, they are not guaranteed and, in most cases, if re-awarded, will be at a reduced level from the prior year. Keep in mind that while scholarships are awarded based on need, they are kept based on merit, and all scholarship cadets are expected to set a positive example within the Corps of Cadets.

Two types of scholarships are available:

  • Success Scholarships: these are funded directly by the school and awarded based solely on a candidate's financial need
  • Sellers Scholarships: funded through the generosity of alumni and awarded based on financial and academic merit.
