Position Overview: The Men’s Soccer Coach provides direction and oversight for College and High school Men’s Soccer program.  The Coach is responsible for administering all areas related to a College Soccer program such as recruiting qualified student-athletes, budgeting, scheduling, coaching, travel, and providing appropriate direction to student-athletes as it relates to academics, while adhering to all National, Regional, College, and Athletic Department rules and regulations. This position requires travel for recruiting and competitions. Other responsibilities will be required. They may include teaching fitness course and/or management of the WMAC Weight Room. This is a full time position reporting to the Athletic Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direction and oversight for the Men’s Soccer program, and supervise the control, issuance, and athletic equipment and facilities. The Coach is responsible for adhering to the mission of Wentworth Military Academy and College and the mission of the Athletic Department.
  • The Coach is responsible for recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes. The Men’s Soccer Coach shall be responsible for recruiting and retaining, on an annual basis, a predetermined number of Men’s Soccer players.
  • Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director, the Coach is responsible for the organization and preparation of the daily practice schedule.
  • The Coach is responsible for the issuance of equipment, maintenance of sport specific equipment, and equipment inventory and storage, and ordering equipment as needed.
  • Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director, prepare the Soccer Schedule, including conference and non-conference games/events.
  • Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director and National Maintenance, coordinate gym, building, and athletic field use, field preparation, and game day set-up.
  • Work with the Athletic Director and transportation supervisor to schedule all Men’s Soccer transportation needs. Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director, seek and recommend suitable competition including all conference and non-conference competitions.
  • Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director, make travel arrangements and overnight accommodations for players or teams (and coaches) competing in MSHSAA, NJCAA, and USCAA athletic competition(s).
  • Working in conjunction with the Athletic Director and official assigning organizations, hire officials for contests all officials for athletic contests and submit paperwork for payment to the Athletic Director for approval and payment. Confirm and contact officials prior to game assigned.
  • Submit rosters for the competition program. The Men’s Soccer Coach is responsible for providing information to update the Men’s Soccer portion of the Athletic web site.
  • Assist in the supervision at athletic contests in compliance with MSHSAA, NJCAA, and USCAA regulations.
  • Hold post-season evaluation conference with all student-athletes on an annual basis.
  • Follow Athletic Department policies and procedures listed Athletic Handbook. Distribute pertinent Athletic Training materials to athletic participants annually.
  • Ensure school adherence to all MSHSAA, NJCAA, USCAA, and school policies, administrative rules, procedures, and codes relating to and participating in athletics at Wentworth Military Academy and College.
  • Attend Mid-State Conference, MSHSAA, NJCAA, and USCAA meetings as needed.
  • Fund-raise as needed, working in conjunction with the Athletic Director, President, Vice-President for Development, and other designated individuals. All Athletic Department fund-raising will be approved by the Athletic Director.
  • Required tasks may include teaching fitness course and/or management of the WMAC Weight Room
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associates Degree – related Sports Management
  • Certification: Maintain a valid Missouri driver’s license. Must have a CDL with bus endorsement or be able to obtain one upon hire.
  • Experience in Collegiate Soccer Coaching or equivalent role within a professional sports organization.
  • Experience teaching high school or college sport or exercise related course.
  • Effective oral and written communication, recruiting, decision making, community building, problem solving, creative skills and fundraising.
  • Must be certified by American Red Cross (or other accrediting agency) in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years experience as a Soccer Coach.
  • Experience in Personal Training or Exercise/wellness
  • Bilingual

Wentworth Military Academy and College is seeking applications for a Student Life Coordinator.  

This position is a high energy, full time position responsible for organization and implementation of various educational, recreational and social programs for the students.  The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for student engagement initiatives to further develop personal, social, and emotional growth in order to promote retention and student success. This position requires weekend and evening availability to accommodate student schedules.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Create an atmosphere of student engagement through programming activities and fostering opportunities for student participation in campus life throughout both the academic and summer semesters.
    • Develop plans, programs, and activities that help students adapt to campus life and engage them with a purpose and reason to stay (retain) and complete their education (persist).  
    • Plan, coordinate, market and execute educational, cultural, social and recreational activities and events–to include all required personnel and resources.
    • Engage the student community in all phases of activity and event planning and execution.
    • Conduct student interest surveys and focus groups to identify interests and potential growth areas for student life programs.
    • Promote and communicate each semester’s activities and events to all students, staff, and faculty.
    • Responsible for coordinating efforts of students, staff, and faculty in support of student life activities, events, and programs.
    • Prepare and maintain appropriate records and files related to resources, programs, expenditures and student involvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in recreation, behavioral sciences, education, or a related field
  • Certification/License: Maintain a valid driver’s license including CDL with bus endorsement; CPR and First Aid
  • Previous residential life/recreation experience and/or previous experience working with adolescents
  • Effective oral and written communication;, community building, problem solving, calm under pressure, creative and flexible, decision making, computer use, ability to work independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Course work in education, behavioral sciences, Recreation or a related field
  • Bilingual
